Intro

Have you ever participated in a cybersecurity challenge? It’s an exciting way to put your skills to the test and learn new things. Recently, my buddy and I participated in the Cyber Security Challenge 2023 online qualifiers organized by NVISO.

About CSCB

First, let me give you a brief overview of the Cyber Security Challenge 2023. It’s a Capture The Flag (CTF) competition designed to test the skills of cybersecurity enthusiasts. The competition is organized by NVISO, a company that specializes in cybersecurity and information security. Aspiring participants must undergo two stages of evaluation- an online qualifier followed by a final event.

The preliminary round doesn’t place any limitations on potential applicants, but only qualifying groups will be selected for advancement to the final stage.

The qualifiers

My friend and I registered for the online qualifiers, and we were excited to put our cybersecurity skills to the test.

We only had a little time to focus on the CTF because of our personal lives, but we still tackled some easy and medium challenges. The challenges were diverse and covered different areas of cybersecurity, such as web application security, cryptography, and reverse engineering. Some were a piece of cake, while others were more difficult. The CTF allowed us to hone our skills, acquire new knowledge & gain practical experience.

Despite facing time constraints, we secured a position at 103rd place among the participating teams, which stood at around 290.

We still had lots of fun participating in the event and learned some things, so it’s not only about winning or losing! Therefore, I recommend it to anyone interested in cybersecurity and looking for a challenge.

Conclusion

In conclusion, cybersecurity challenges like the Cyber Security Challenge 2023 are a great way to learn and grow in the field of cybersecurity. They are the perfect outlet for those seeking a fun experience that doubles up as educational. Participating in one allows you to test your knowledge while learning something new. I recommend participating if cybersecurity intrigues you.
